How to build a Japanese skin care routine and order it from Tokyo to Bishkek, Osh and other cities in Kyrgyzstan: how Hada Labo, Curél, MINON and CareCera differ, a basic routine, prices in som, the EAEU €200 threshold and delivery times.
People in Kyrgyzstan choose Japanese skin care for gentle formulas and a clear routine: cleanse, lotion, then an emulsion or cream. Popular drugstore lines Hada Labo, Curél and MINON are designed for daily use and for dry or sensitive skin. This guide explains how these brands differ, how to build a simple routine from them and how to order it from Tokyo to Bishkek, Osh or any other city in Kyrgyzstan.
The Japanese routine: what goes on when
In Japanese skin care the lotion (化粧水, keshōsui) plays the lead role. It is not a cleansing toner but the first hydrating step, applied right after cleansing. A basic routine looks like this:
- Cleanse with a gentle foam, without rubbing.
- Lotion, spread with the palms and patted into the skin.
- Emulsion, gel or cream to lock in moisture.
- Sunscreen in the morning.
We explain why a Japanese lotion is not a toner in Japanese lotion is not a toner, and the full routine in Japanese skin care step by step.
Hada Labo: all about hyaluronic acid
Hada Labo is known for its Gokujun line with hyaluronic acid. According to the maker, the Gokujun Premium lotion contains eight types of hyaluronic acid and is made without fragrance, colourants, oils, alcohol or parabens. A good choice if you want simple hydration with no scent.
- Hada Labo Gokujun Premium Hyaluronic Acid Lotion, 170 ml: a rich texture that is not sticky, weakly acidic pH.
- Hada Labo Gokujyun Perfect Gel, 100 g: an all-in-one gel with five types of hyaluronic acid, squalane and ceramides; it replaces several steps when you want a short routine.
Curél: a line for dry and sensitive skin
Curél (by Kao) makes care for dry, sensitive skin with a focus on ceramides. The Intensive Moisture Care line covers the whole basic routine: a foaming wash, lotions in three moisture levels (I light, II moist, III very moist), an emulsion and a cream. An overview of all the brand's lines is in Curél for sensitive skin.
- Curél Intensive Moisture Care Foaming Face Wash, 150 ml: dispenses ready-made fine foam from the pump, no lathering needed; according to the maker, it preserves the skin's ceramides while cleansing.
- Curél Intensive Moisture Care Face Lotion II (Moist), 150 ml: a lotion with ceramide capsules and eucalyptus extract, morning and evening after cleansing, 3-4 pumps.
- Curél Intensive Moisture Care Moisture Face Cream, 40 g: a cream with a ceramide-function ingredient and a light feel; applied after lotion or emulsion.
MINON: amino acids for dry skin
MINON Amino Moist builds its care around moisturising amino acids. The products are designed for dry and sensitive skin, and some of them are fragrance-free.
- MINON Amino Moist Moist Charge Lotion II, 150 ml: a rich lotion with a complex of 9 moisturising amino acids and glycerin, 3-5 pumps after cleansing.
- MINON Amino Moist Moisture Charge Cream, 40 g: a dense cream that melts on the skin; the maker suggests applying it after lotion and milk, with a little extra on especially dry areas.
CareCera: one product for face and body
CareCera (by Rohto) makes care for dry skin with ceramides. CareCera AP Face & Body Milk, 200 ml contains 7 types of ceramides according to the maker and is meant for both face and body: handy if you want one product for the whole family.
Building a routine for your skin
- Normal and combination skin: Curél foam, Hada Labo Gokujun Premium lotion and the light Hada Labo Perfect Gel instead of a cream.
- Dry skin: Curél foam, Curél Lotion II or MINON Moist Charge Lotion II, then Curél or MINON cream.
- Fewest steps: cleanse and Hada Labo Perfect Gel.
If you have a skin condition or react strongly to cosmetics, talk to a dermatologist before changing your routine. Every product page has a translated ingredient list, so you can check in advance for ingredients you react to. More options by skin type are in Japanese skin care by skin type.
Reading Japanese product names
Japanese packs usually state the product type in Japanese characters, and in the catalog it is translated in the product name. A few words help:
- 化粧水 (keshōsui): lotion, the first step after cleansing.
- 乳液 (nyūeki): emulsion or milk, a light step after lotion.
- クリーム: cream, the richest step.
- 洗顔: facial cleanser.
- 詰め替え: refill, a soft pouch for refilling the bottle, with no pump.
Curél Intensive Moisture Care lotions come in three versions: I light, II moist, III very moist. For dry skin people usually look at II or III; for normal skin or skin that gets oily by evening, at I.
