Japanese Beauty and Personal Care Shipped to Germany from Japan: What to Know Before You Order

24 October 2026 · 8 min read

Ordering Japanese skincare, hair care and body care from Tokyo to Germany: why the minimum order is ¥30,000, who pays import VAT, how euro prices and Japan Post tracking work, and which products make sense to combine.

Japanese Beauty and Personal Care Shipped to Germany from Japan: What to Know Before You Order

Germany is one of the largest markets for Japanese beauty in Europe, and it is also the country where ordering from Japan has the most rules attached. Since July 2026 Japan Post handles parcels to Germany differently from parcels to, say, the Netherlands or Latvia, and that affects the minimum order. This guide explains honestly how an order from Eurasia Japan in Tokyo to an address in Germany works, what you pay and when, and how to put together an order that makes sense.

How the shop works

Eurasia Japan is a Tokyo-based shop. We buy from Japanese manufacturers, their distributors and Japanese retail stores, and ship every order from Japan by Japan Post. Each product is a single retail pack of the Japanese market with a JAN barcode; before dispatch we check the barcode, packaging and expiry date. The product pages show the manufacturer's ingredients and directions for use. The site interface can be switched to German in the language selector, and all the delivery rules for Germany are collected on the Germany delivery page.

Why the minimum order for Germany is ¥30,000

For most EU countries our minimum order is ¥8,000 in products. For Germany it is ¥30,000 in products, shipping not included. The same higher minimum applies to Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Luxembourg and Portugal.

The reason is a Japan Post rule. Since July 2026 Japan Post does not accept parcels with goods under €150 to these nine countries: such low-value parcels need VAT prepaid by the seller through the EU IOSS system, and customs in these countries return them. A parcel with goods worth €150 or more goes through regular customs clearance and is accepted. ¥30,000 keeps the goods value at or above €150 as long as the euro does not cost more than ¥200, which is why the threshold is set in yen with a margin.

We know a ¥30,000 minimum is higher than many people would choose for a first order. We would rather say this upfront than let you discover it on the last checkout step. The cart shows how much is left to reach the minimum, and the checkout button becomes active once it is reached.

Cashback and the minimum. Every delivered order returns 5% to your account as cashback. For Germany you can spend cashback only on the part of an order above ¥30,000: the declared value of the goods has to stay above the €150 threshold, otherwise Japan Post would not accept the parcel. The checkout limits this automatically.

Import VAT, duty and the postal fee

A parcel above €150 to Germany is cleared like any regular import. At the time of writing we do not collect EU VAT at checkout, so the recipient pays German import VAT, customs duty where it applies and the postal service's clearance fee on delivery. These charges are set by German customs and the postal service, they are not part of our price and are not refundable by us. Our delivery terms page has an indicative table of thresholds by country.

If we ever start collecting VAT at checkout, the checkout will show it as a separate line included in the payment. Until then, plan for import charges on top of the order total.

Prices in euros, payment in yen

Prices are set in Japanese yen and cards are charged in yen. The currency switcher in the header can show prices in euros so you can estimate a basket; your bank converts the final yen amount at its own rate. Payment is by Visa, Mastercard, JCB or American Express via Stripe, and the order is confirmed instantly after payment. You need a free account to check out; it holds your order history, the tracking number and your cashback.

Shipping options and tracking

At checkout you choose among the Japan Post services available for Germany. EMS is the fastest, airmail parcels cost less, and slower, cheaper services exist too. Most services are tracked; the checkout marks the ones that are not. A large order is split into several parcels automatically within the weight Japan Post accepts for Germany. When the parcel ships, the tracking number and a direct link to Japan Post tracking appear in your account. Once the parcel arrives in Germany, the German postal service's tracking usually shows more detail.

What cannot be posted from Japan

Japan Post does not accept aerosols and other pressurised containers, flammable liquids such as alcohol-based perfumes and nail polish, oxidisers including bleach-type products, loose lithium batteries and power banks, e-cigarettes, plants and seeds, or CITES-protected items. This rules out, for example, hair sprays, deodorant sprays and mist cans, even when the product inside is a gentle cream. Some cosmetics, such as sunscreens, liquid deodorants and foundations, need a composition document from the manufacturer. Devices with a built-in battery and kitchen knives ship only where Japan Post allows it; the checkout checks this for your address.

Building a ¥30,000 order that makes sense

With a higher minimum, it is worth planning an order around products you will actually finish, ideally a full routine or a few months of your staples. A few combinations from our catalog that ship to Germany:

A complete brightening skincare set. Sekkisei Brightening Essence Lotion 350 mL is a large-format medicated lotion with a licorice-derived active ingredient and Job's tears extract; the maker positions it against pigmentation and skin roughness. It pairs with the Sekkisei Brightening Emulsion from the same line. Both are listed on the Sekkisei brand page.

A serum many people know from European counters. Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate 30 mL is the Japanese retail version of the serum, with fermented camellia extract, meant for morning and evening use.

A cleansing oil. ALBION Furarune Quick Off Oil Cleansing has a light, non-greasy texture and, according to the maker, removes even waterproof makeup with a light massage.

Hair care. Japanese hair oils are a category of their own. &honey Deep Moist Hair Oil 3.0 is a leave-in oil built around honey, damask rose extract and argan oil. Fino Premium Touch Penetrating Serum Hair Oil is a serum-oil for damaged and dry hair that, per the maker, does not leave a greasy residue. More in the hair care catalog and the hair oil section.

Body care. Biore The Body Milk for Wet Skin in the Bath, Moist Type is applied to wet skin right after a shower, before towel-drying, to lock in moisture. See the body care catalog for more.

Combining face, hair and body care in one parcel is the easiest way to reach the minimum without buying things you do not need. The full face care catalog is the starting point for skincare.

Returns and cancellations

Unopened items in their original sealed packaging can be returned within 14 days of delivery. Email info@eurasiajp.com with your order number first and we send the return address in Japan. The customer pays return shipping, and we refund the item price to the card within 14 days after we receive it. Opened cosmetics cannot be returned for hygiene reasons. An order can be cancelled within 48 hours of payment while it has not shipped. If a parcel arrives damaged, you have 7 days to send a claim with photos and a CN24 damage report from the post office. Frequently asked questions

Can I order less than ¥30,000 to Germany? No. Since July 2026 Japan Post does not accept parcels with goods under €150 to Germany, and ¥30,000 keeps the order above that value. Neighbouring countries such as the Netherlands and Poland keep the ¥8,000 minimum.

Will I pay anything on delivery in Germany? Yes. At the moment we do not collect VAT at checkout, so German import VAT, any duty and the postal clearance fee are paid by the recipient on delivery.

Can I pay in euros? You can see prices in euros through the currency switcher, but the card is charged in Japanese yen.

Is the site available in German? Yes, the interface can be switched to German in the language selector.
