Japanese Yanagiba (Sashimi Knife): a long Japanese knife for slicing sashimi and fish for sushi. Blade: Shirogami (White Paper) steel; carbon steel: very sharp but rusts without proper care; hardness HRC 60-61; single bevel (for right handed users). Sakai has about 600 years of blade forging history, and Sakai Takayuki is one of its best known knife makers: the knives are finished by hand using traditional techniques and exported to more than 100 countries.

How to use and care
• Do not cut or chop frozen food or bones: this chips the blade. • Wash by hand with warm water and dry thoroughly with a towel right away. • Do not put it in a dishwasher. • The carbon steel rusts easily: never leave the knife wet and store it dry. • The single bevel edge is made for right handed users.

Shipping & returns
- • Ships from Japan (Tokyo) with a tracking number. Shipping cost is calculated by weight and destination at checkout.
- • Minimum order: ¥8,000 in products (shipping is not counted). For the United Kingdom, Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Luxembourg and Portugal the minimum is ¥30,000.
- • Import duties and taxes of your country, if any, are paid by the recipient. For the USA the import duty is calculated and paid at checkout (DDP): nothing to pay on delivery.
- • Cancellation is possible within 48 hours of payment and only before dispatch. Returns: unopened items in their original sealed packaging can be returned within 14 days of delivery; return shipping is paid by the customer, and the item price is refunded to the original card within 14 days after we receive it. Opened cosmetics, supplements and food cannot be returned for hygiene reasons.
- • Damaged, wrong or missing item: photograph the box and the item, obtain a damage report at your post office and email us within 7 days of delivery. Every parcel is insured for the full value of the goods; compensation follows the Japan Post claim procedure.

How long does shipping take?
Orders ship from Japan by EMS (Japan Post). Delivery time depends on your destination country. You'll get a tracking number as soon as your order ships, so you can follow it the whole way.
Is this a genuine Japanese product?
We buy from Japanese manufacturers, their distributors and Japanese retail stores, and ship from Japan. We check the JAN barcode, packaging and expiry date before dispatch.
